Shaping the Future with Linden Surfboards by Sebastian Williams June 2010

Posted in Surf Boards | 1 comment

Gary Linden shaped me a new 5’0″ board. Shown in this video are some of the first sessions I had trying it out. Gary is a master shaper and craftsman. He makes the best agave boards in the world. He shapes big wave boards for some of the best big wave surfers in the world, like Mark Healey. He is an expert balsa board maker. His tow boards are amazing. The boards he shapes for everyday surfers are great. And now he is hand shaping the best small boards in the world for young surfers like me. I just turned 10, and everyday I surf better because I surf boards shaped by Gary Linden. Thank you Gary!!

Hansen Surfboards’, Mike, helps you pick a surfboard suitable for big wave surfing. Hansen Surfboards is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year and it has proven to be a pinnacle year. In addition to being titled “Small Business of the Year,” earlier this year Hansen’s was awarded “Women’s Retailer of The Year” by the Surf Industry Manufacturer Association (SIMA). This one-of-a-kind award is given only to the most influential companies in recognition of their efforts to advance and grow the industry. Owning and growing a successful company is only part of the Hansen family passion. Annually Hansen Surfboards partners with “One Day Without Shoes” and “Soles4Souls” to raise funds and awareness for individuals who don’t have the privilege of wearing shoes. Josh Hansen said, “We’re doing this for the people who are going barefoot because they have no choice.” “Soles4Souls” and Hansen Surfboards unite in a campaign that encourages the public to drop off its unwanted shoes at Hansen’s in exchange for 10 percent off a new pair of shoes or sandals for every pair donated at the store. Last year, with the help of the generous involvement from the community, Hansen’s donated 6000 lbs. of shoes to the “Soles4Souls” campaign. Hansen Surfboards is proof that there is more to helping a city than simply opening its doors for business and offering
